The game will take place on June 22 inManaus (June 23 at 01:00 – Kyiv time).
The ground of the duel will be Arena de Amazonia built last year especially for the world contest. The stadium has a capacity of 40,549.
In the previous matchday Portugal were flattened by Germany (0:4) while the USA defeated Ghana (2:1). After that Germany drew against Ghana (2:2) which means that if Seleção lose against Americans they’ll tumble out of the tournament.
Portugal head coach Paulo Bento understands that:
- The situation is absolutely clear: if we don’t win we’ll have to pack our bags. That’s not a common scenario for Portugal. I think the current situation will make us play well.
The USA coach Jürgen Klinsmann is also confident:
- We have a chance to approve ourselves. We must cut Cristiano Ronaldo and his team down to size. We have enough energy, discipline and agression for that.
Clint Dempsey is sure that it won’t be easy for his team to win the game:
- We must focus not only on Cristiano Ronaldo. Portugal are good team. Of course, we want to earn three points, but the game will be difficult.
FC Dynamo Kyiv Portuguese halfback Miguel also has proper state of mind:
- We are getting ready for the game against Americans very seriously. I can play wherever the coach wants me to. By the way, there were not only negative aspects in our match against Germany. Anyway we are in for two decisive fixtures. The USA are very athletic team that can use counterattacks effectively. Fortunately we have the best player of the world Cristiano Ronaldo, who can change the situation for better. We all realize the importance of the game against the USA.
The referee of the game will be Argentinean Nestor Pitana.
