Dynamo U21 defender Danylo Ohorodnik shared his impressions of the match against Cherkasy’s LNZ in Round 5 of UPL-2, in which the Kyiv side suffered a 0:1 home defeat:
— I believe it was a game that could have gone either way, but the opponent took advantage of our mistake in defense, which led to a penalty, and as a result, we lost 0:1. We will analyze the game and move forward.
— After five rounds, the team has conceded goals in three matches. What should you generally focus on: paying more attention to attack or playing more reliably in defense?
— We need to keep clean sheets in defense and score as many goals as possible in attack. If we do not concede in defense and score in attack, it will definitely be a victory. Unfortunately, we failed to do that today, and it turned out that we lost.
— During the game, there were changes in the center of defense — you moved to the left center-back position when Konovalov came on as a substitute. Do such adjustments during the match personally affect your game?
— They do not affect my game personally, because we switched to playing with three defenders to join the attack more often and put more emphasis on it, as we were trailing during the match. For me, it makes no difference where I play — on the right, on the left, or in the center.
— And what is the difference between playing in a pair of central defenders and playing as a trio?
— There is not much difference either. When you need to put pressure on the opponent, come back into the game in the final minutes, and we switch to playing with three defenders, there are simply more players up front who need to be supplied with the ball, and this allows us to attack.
— What did the coach say after the match? What was he dissatisfied with? Perhaps you already analyzed the game immediately afterwards?
— The coach said that the whole team lost. We all lost. It was evident from the game: someone failed to get back in time somewhere, and as a result, everything turned out the way it did. We will make amends in the next match. We will analyze this game so that we do not repeat our mistakes. And, of course, in the next round we need nothing but a victory.
