Dynamo Kyiv defender Denys Dykyi spoke about training with the first team during the international break.
– The international break continues, and preparations for the match against Karpaty are underway. What is the atmosphere like in the team now, with the national team players still away? How have these one and a half weeks gone for you personally?
– The atmosphere is always good. I am very happy to be training with the first team. I am gaining experience. They say that if you train alongside strong players, you grow as a player yourself.
– You play in the same position as Vladyslav Dubinchak. How is this internal competition developing, especially considering your recent debut?
– I was given a chance to play in the Ukrainian Cup against Nyva Vinnytsia. I am grateful that I got this opportunity. Vladyslav is a very good defender. I take an example from him and watch how he plays.
– Was there anything specific that you wanted to do during this three-week break?
– I always want to improve. During the break, I followed the Ukraine national team, as well as the national teams of Spain and Croatia. These are high-level teams.
– You managed to score a goal in training. How are these training sessions going for you?
– I give 100 percent. This is a great opportunity for me. It is good that I managed to score a goal – it does not happen that often (smiles).
– In modern football, left-backs need to join attacks frequently. What are you focused on in terms of attacking play?
– The coaches tell me to get forward and contribute more to the attack. I need to deliver accurate crosses, and if there is an opportunity, take a shot on goal.
– Where is it easier: in defence or when you need to sharpen the attack?
– I enjoy playing both ways.
