Denys Popov: “We get to work with new energy and emotions”

FC Dynamo Kyiv defender Denys Popov has told about the start of the White-Blues’ pre-season work in Turkey.

- The vacation was short. We’ve had some rest and now we get to work with new energy and emotions. First off there will be a lot of running and then we’ll work with the ball.

- This was the first working day. Is it tough to get into the rhythm?

- It’s never easy after vacation, but that’s only natural.

- At this point you’re mostly focused on endurance exercises. Do players like that?

- We don’t, but that’s absolutely necessary to approach the second part of the season in our best shape.

- A lot of youngsters are training with the team. How’re they doing?

- It was just the first session, we’ll see. I hope they’ll enforce our team.

- What advice can you give young players?

- Each player has his own path and feels what needs to be done. One should work hard and avoid thinking he’s already achieved something.

- How important is it to listen to older teammates?

- Some need that, some don’t, but I think one should listen as older teammate won’t give you a bad advice.

- Rukh center back Bohdan Sliubyk has come to the training camp with Dynamo. What do you think of him?

- As I’ve said, it was just the first session. Today we were mostly running together (smiling).

- What do you expect of the training camp?

- First of all we need to get ready for the Europa League and then focus on the Ukrainian Premier League. I hope nobody gets any health issues.

- You used to have two separate training camps while this year it’s a single training camp that lasts a month and a half. Should one be prepared for that mentally?

- I guess. It’s a really long period of time, but I hope we’ll get a few days off as we’re going to work really hard here.
