Denys Popov: “The most important thing Is to prepare properly for official matches”

On the eve of the team’s departure for the training camp in Austria Dynamo defender Denys Popov shared his impressions of undergoing the medical examination and spoke about preparations for the new season.

— There was not much time for rest. How was your vacation?

— There was not much time for rest. The vacation turned out to be quite active, nothing special. I was in Kyiv, spending time with friends and family. I spent time with everyone I had the opportunity to meet.

— This is already the second time you have undergone a medical examination at Oxford Medical. Have you noticed any differences compared to the previous time?

— In fact, everything is very similar. A standard medical examination, familiar doctors and procedures. Overall, everything is as usual. Nothing new. All procedures are standard. Any rooms I do not really want to enter? There are none. I am not afraid of injections or blood tests either.

— The team leaves for Austria tomorrow. What are your expectations for the training camp?

— The main thing is that everyone stays healthy and works without injuries. We need to get into shape, because that is exactly what training camps are for. We will work on different combinations, follow the requirements of the coaching staff, and implement their ideas on the pitch. The most important thing is to prepare properly for the official matches.

— This year the European season starts unusually early — already at the beginning of July. Are you looking forward to the draw for the first qualifying round?

— I do not know whether the preparation process will be adjusted because of that. We will follow the coaches’ instructions. As for opponents, I never make predictions about who we will face and I do not choose whom I would like to get. Whatever happens, happens.

— Chornomorets and Livyi Bereh have returned to the Premier League this season, Bukovyna earned promotion, and Kudrivka remained in the top division. What do you think about the newcomers to the championship?

— Honestly, I do not have any particular thoughts yet. Well done to them for earning the right to play in the UPL. We will meet them on the pitch.
