Denys Popov: “Being strong in hard times is a part of our job”

But, what matters most of all, is that Denys has made fans fall in love with his emotional and tough style. Anyway, Popov doesn’t think that the year 2019 was a breakthrough for him.

- Of course it was a step forward, but not a breakthrough. I still need to learn a lot, to work on different aspects of my play.

- Dynamo are the most discussed team in the country. Do negative or positive comments influence you?

- Nowadays it’s hardly possible to get away from comments and discussions on the internet. I read what people write about me and Dynamo. Some thoughts are quite interesting while some are very aggressive and unprofessional. Anyway, being strong in hard times is a part of our job.

- Are you self-critical? What do you think of your performances this year?

- My work is about training sessions and games. It’s up to coaches, journalists and supporters to estimate. Coaches pay attention not only to games, but also to our work in training process.

- What aspects of the game should you work on?

- I think that would be speed and decision-making time. The latter is one of the major aspects in modern football.

- What would you like to wish true Dynamo fans in the next year?

- I wish them to stay really true fans. That means to support the team in good and bad times. We work very hard to make them happy. I wish all of us patience and progress!
