On Monday, December 22, Ukraine’s U15 national team (players born in 2011 or younger) played the decisive match of the UEFA Development Tournament against the hosts - Portugal. The winner of the tournament was determined in this match as both teams had collected six points.
The Ukrainians, coached by Volodymyr Samborskyi, defeated their Portuguese counterparts. After a goalless draw in regular time the outcome was decided in a penalty shootout where young Ukrainian footballers proved more accurate, winning 5:4.
A representative of Dynamo also featured in this match - goalkeeper Karim Bakhriev. He started for the Ukrainian national team and played the full match gaining valuable international experience.
It is worth noting that in the first half Bakhriev saved a penalty taken by the Portuguese team, rescuing Ukraine in a difficult moment and keeping the team in contention for victory.
