On Friday, August 30, the Europa League main stage draw took place at the Grimaldi Forum congress center in Monaco. Due to the new format of the competition, adjustments were made to the drawing procedure.
Starting this season, an automated computer system is used during the draw, balls are no longer drawn manually. The program also determined which games will be played at home and which will be played away.
The biggest change is the transition from the traditional group stage to a single league stage with 36 participating clubs (instead of 32). Each team is now guaranteed a minimum of eight matches at the league stage against eight different opponents (four home and four away), rather than the previous six matches against three teams played home and away. The top eight teams of the league will automatically qualify for the play-offs, while the teams ranked 9th through 24th will compete in a two-leg play-off to secure their way to the round of 16.
The participants were divided into 4 pots of 9 teams based on their individual club coefficient at the start of the season.
At the general stage, teams will not face opponents from their own country and can play a maximum of two representatives from the same association.
So, Dynamo opponents at this stage are:
SS Lazio (Italy) – home
AS Roma (Italy) – away
Ferencvarosi TC (Hungary) – home
Real Sociedad (Spain) – away
FC Viktoria Plzen (Czech Republic) – home
Galatasaray SK (Turkey) – away
FK RFS (Latvia) – home
TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (Germany) – away
The kick-off rime will be announced later – on August 31.
The Europa League main stage matches will be held from September 25-26 2024 to January 30 2025.
