Dynamo to play in the UEFA Youth League in the 2026/2027 season

Following the results of the 2025/2026 season Dynamo Kyiv, having not lost a single match throughout the championship, finished in second place in the National league U19, trailing Shakhtar Donetsk by three points.

Despite the fact that the White-Blues were unable to defend their championship title, our team will start next season in the UEFA Youth League via the Champions Path, as the reigning champions, Shakhtar Donetsk, will participate in the tournament through the UEFA Champions League Path.

This is stated in paragraph 3.04 of the UEFA Youth League regulations, namely:

“If a club qualifies simultaneously through the UEFA Champions League Path and the Domestic Champions Path, it is automatically admitted to the UEFA Champions League Path. The vacant place in the Domestic Champions Path is, as a rule, transferred to the runner-up of the national championship of the respective association.

If the runner-up has also qualified through the UEFA Champions League Path, this vacancy is not filled. Instead, the access list for the competition is reviewed and balanced, with priority given to the club from the association with the highest ranking in the relevant access round.”

According to the calendar, three rounds are scheduled in the autumn part of the season via the Champions Path: first-round matches will take place on September 16 and October 14, second-round matches on October 28 and November 4, and third-round matches on November 25 and December 9.

It should be recalled that the UEFA Youth League has been held since the 2013/2014 season. During this time Dynamo has participated in eight editions of the tournament. The best achievement of our team in Europe’s premier club competition for youth teams is reaching the Round of 16. Dynamo reached this stage three times – in the 2016/2017 season (0:3 against AFC Ajax), in 2018/2019 (0:0, 2:4 on penalties against TSG Hoffenheim) and in 2021/2022 (1:2 against Sporting CP).
