Several teams, such as Rukh, Start, Sport, Almaz etc, were formed in Kyiv when the city was invaded by German armed forces. These teams played against each other and against occupation troops.
Former FC Dynamo Kyiv and FC Lokomotyv Kyiv performers featured for Start.
Players
In 1942 Dynamo players Vadym Sosninykh and Yevhen Rudakov were born.
Defender Sosninykh dedicated his whole life to the native team.
Goalkeeper Rudakov was born in Moscow. He joined Dynamo when he was 20 years old.
Matches
In 1942 Start played 10 matches and won all of them (goal difference – 56:11).
On August 6 and 9 they faced German team Flakelf.
Our players defeated their opponent twice (5:1 and 5:3). Second game is known as Death match as after it the majority of Start players were arrested and four of them (Mykola Trusevych, Mykola Korotkikh, Olexiy Klymenko and Ivan Kuzmenko) were executed.
