Events
On January 12 Kyivans had to play the Champions Cup quarterfinal first leg against Celtic FC. Our team suffered away defeat 3:0. Second leg took place in Tbilisi as weather conditions in Kyiv were severe. The game ended in a draw 1:1.
At that moment Dynamo key performers couldn’t help the White-Blues as they were preparing for the World Cup. Thus the head coach of the team Viktor Maslov gave such reservists as Rudakov, Puzach, Byshovets and Muntian a chance.
In 1966 Dynamo became the Soviet Top League winners six matchdays prior its finish, besides Kyivans won the USSR Cup.

On October 19 1966 Dynamo faced FC Kairat Almaty. With luck Kyivans could become the Soviet Top League winners for the second time in their history. The White-Blues won the game by three goals to nil.
On November 8 1966 Viktor Maslov’s men defeated FC Torpedo Moscow within the USSR Cup final 2:0.
