Events

In 1943 there was no football in Kyiv. Some Dynamo performers didn’t make in through the war – Mykola Trusevych, Ivan Kuzmenko, Olexiy Klymenko, Mykhailo Volin. Many Kyivans joined other teams, the majority of which represented Dynamo sports society. After Kyiv was liberated on November 6 it wasn’t easy to revive the club.

Players

Some FC Dynamo Kyiv famous performers were born during the war.

Fedir (Ferents) Medvid (born in Zakarpattia region) joined the White-Blues in 1962 and featured for our team for ten years. He made 243 appearances in Soviet Top League and scored 19 goals. Medvid won the domestic league four times (1966, 1967, 1968, 1971) and USSR Cup twice (1964, 1966). From 1966 till 1968 he performed for the USSR national team.

Vitaliy Khmelnytskyi (born in Mariupol) joined Dynamo in 1965. He was outstanding striker. Still he finished his career at the age of 29 because of serious injury. Khmelnytskyi made 290 appearances in Soviet Top League and netted 62 goals. He won the title four times (1966, 1967, 1968, 1971) and USSR Cup once (1966). From 1965 till 1971 he featured for the USSR national team (20 caps, 7 goals).

It has already been mentioned that there was no football in Kyiv in 1943…
