16 teams from six countries took part in the contest. Kyivans were one year younger than their opponents.
Our youngsters won all three group stage games, but lost against Dinamo Minsk in the quarterfinal. After that the White-Blues drew against Partizan Belgorod 2:2, but lost on penalties. Eventually they defeated Daugavpils 5:1 and finished 7th.
