Dynamo - Ajax - 1:1. Match report

Dynamo Kyiv had to settle for a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Play-off round with FC Ajax (Amsterdam) after coming from behind at the Dynamo stadium. The visitors produced the first goal a minute after the White-Blues were reduced to ten men. Denys Harmash was sent off for a second bookable offence, a foul on Jan Vertonghen. But their lead didn’t last long, however. Oleh Husyev leveled the score just nine minutes later, capitalising on Ajax's defensive lapse.

Dynamo coach Valeriy Gazzaev sprung a surprise in his starting line-up with young goalkeeper Maksym Koval named in the goal. Even though Maksym conceded a goal in his debut, he looked quite confident throughout the match and made some decent saves. Another player, who made his first appearance in Dynamo shirt on Tuesday, was André Felipe. The Brazilian-born striker came on for Andriy Yarmolenko midway through the second period and had a good chance to mark his debut with a goal when he found himself one-on-one with the Dutch goalkeeper, but had his shirt tugged backwards by the opponent. In the dying minutes of the match, he had another presentable opportunity to get on a scoresheet after being brought down by Ajax defender, but his powerful free-kick from about 25 meters flew over the bar.
