Dynamo – Ajax: six referees from Switzerland

UEFA Referee Committee today announced the names of referees who will take charge of Tuesday’s Champions League Play-off round match between FC Dynamo (Kyiv) and FC Ajax (Amsterdam, Netherlands). It's worth noting that matches in this season’s Champions League will involve two additional assistant referees.

So, the central referee for the game is Massimo Busacca from Switzerland. Born in the town of Bellinzona on 6 February 1969, Massimo, who used to play football in a lower division in Ticino, began refereeing in 1990. He took charge of his first match in the Swiss Super League in 1996, and received his FIFA badge in 1999. Busacca is considered one of Europe's most experienced referees.

At the Dynamo stadium named after V.Lobanovskyy, he will be accompanied by three compatriots – assistant referees Francesco Buragina and Manuel Navarro and fourth official Alain Bieri. The refereeing team will be complemented by two additional assistant referees, Jerome Laperriere and Daniel Wermelinger, also from Switzerland.

The UEFA Delegate will be David Petriashvili of Georgia, while Oguz Sarvan of Turkey will act as UEFA referee observer.
