FC Dynamo Kyiv made a winning start on Wednesday in their opening Champions League group-stage match, as they overcame tournament debutants FC Rubin (Kazan, Russia) 3-1. The Kyivers managed to come from behind and scored three goals in the last 19 minutes.
The visitors opened the scoring midway through the first half when Alejandro Domínguez's superb free-kick found the net. However, Dynamo assumed control in the second half and began to create clear-cut chances. The team’s efforts were finally rewarded as Nigerian midfield player Ayila Yussuf levelled in the 71st minute. Luckily, it did not stop there. The White-Blues duly pressed forward and eventually confirmed their victory with goals from Gérson Magrão and Oleh Husyev.
With Group F opponents FC Internazionale Milano and FC Barcelona playing out a goalless draw at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza the same night, Dynamo hold an early group lead. The team's successful start raises our hopes to progress to the knockout stages, but the most decisive matches are still ahead.
