Justin Lonwijk: “I want to become important part of the team”

The White-Blues’ newcomer did his first interview as FC Dynamo Kyiv player upon signing the contract with the club.

- What kind of emotions do you experience, Justin?

- I’m very happy to join Dynamo. This is a big step to me. I’m looking forward to first matches.

- Was this transfer unexpected to you?

- It was a bit as summer transfer window was closed in Denmark and many other countries. But in a few days I found out Dynamo were interested in me. Since then I was looking forward to the transfer.

- What do you know about this club and its history?

- I know this is the biggest club in Ukraine whose games are always broadcasted on TV. Dynamo always feature in euro cups, have a great history and a lot of supporters.

- Are you looking forward to chance to work with the great coach Mircea Lucescu?

- Sure! This coach has achieved a lot in football. He’s outstanding gaffer.

- Your major position is central midfielder, but this season you mostly played as winger. How come?

- The reason is that Viborg didn’t have any more players that have experience in this position. I’m a creative midfielder, so I could move to the center and play my game.

- Did you follow the news about war in Ukraine and about Ukrainians defending our land?

- Yes, as the war broke off it was a big shock for everyone. I was in Denmark at the moment, but followed the news on Dutch channels. I hope things will be getting better and peace will come to Ukraine.

- Weren’t you afraid of joining Ukrainian club considering the war?

- Of course I thought about that. I know the situation in the country is still tough, but I’ve talked to people, who live in Kyiv. Fortunately things are getting better in the capital.
