Dynamo U19 forward Fedir Zadorozhnyi shared his impressions after the 4:0 home win over SK Poltava:
- The coach was fully satisfied because we followed his game plan. Yes, we had many chances and should have scored more. But what happened is happened. The main thing is the result, the team’s victory and three points in the standings.
- The team secured a comfortable lead by the ninth minute scoring the third goal. Is it easier to play after such a start?
- I wouldn’t say it becomes easier or calmer. I think today we relaxed a bit after going up 3:0. If we had not scored so quickly, we might have played more tightly. We made too many mistakes because guys relaxed somewhat. But we came out very fired up. That was the coach’s instruction.
- SC Poltava is a newcomer in the Premier League and the youth championship. Did you expect any surprises from them? Were you well prepared?
- Of course. We analyze every opponent before every match. Coaches show and explain everything about them during theory sessions. So there were no surprises today – nor did we expect any. This was our confident performance and a deserved victory.
- Did the fact that the opponent is last in the table risk making you underestimate them?
- No. We focus only on our own position and what we need to improve. We don’t look at the opponent’s ranking. We approach every opponent with the same mindset.
- How did you react to the changes in the coaching staff – Ihor Kostyuk moving to the first team and Pavlo Cherednichenko becoming acting U19 head coach?
- Yes, it was unexpected. But we worked together a lot when he was our fitness coach so there are no problems. We wish Ihor Volodymyrovych success with the first team. Coaching changes are a normal part of football.”
- Ihor Kostyuk watched the match from the stands. Did he support you or give instructions?
- Yes, he gave instructions – I heard him from the stands. And during halftime he came into the dressing room. After Pavlo Pavlovych spoke he added his own remarks. This is normal practice.
