The First Channel Cup is to take place in Israel for the third time. CSKA, Shakhtar Donetsk and Beitar Jerusalem are housed in group A, whilst Dynamo Kyiv is pitted in Group B with Crvena Zvezda and Spartak Moscow. The group winners advance to the final.

The winner will receive $1m out of the $2-m prize money and 0.5 mln will go to the runner-up, with the remaining reward sum to be redistributed among the other teams. Half of the money earned will be spent by the clubs on youth football development in their countries.
