Dynamo first team squad is back from winter vacation. The preparation for the new soccer year got underway today at midday as Yuriy Semin was introduced to the players in a well-packed conference room at the Koncha Zaspa Training Center. The new head coach, who arrived to Kyiv the day before, shared some of his plans and the players set off to get ready for the first training in 2008. Yuriy Semin, Ihor Surkis and Rezo Chokhonelidze carried on with the press conference.
Some of the footballers were eager to talk to media folks about their vacations as well as future expectations. Oleh Dopilka tried his hand (and legs) at skiing. “This is the experience I had never had before. I felt somewhat scared, but only the first time I descended the mountain. Luckily, it all went well and injury-free. Now I am ready to get back to training and will do my best to play regular football in the first team squad.”
Today was the first time Pape Diakhaté appeared in public after picking up a shoulder injury in the domestic league game vs. Shakhtar back in November. The smile on the Senegalese’s face proved his sense of humor had not vanished. “Thank you for recovery greetings, although I still have some problems and will not be able to participate in the African Nations Cup. Before switching to Dynamo I knew it would be no easy. But now I am happy to be in the squad and cannot wait for the championship to resume”.
