History
FC Basel 1893 has historical relations with FC Barcelona. The Catalonian club was found due to the former captain of FC Basel 1893 Joan Gamper.
FC Basel 1893 won the Swiss league 7 times in the last 10 years and also achieved some success on European arena (UEFA Cup quarter final in 2006).

The present coach of FC Basel 1893 is Murat Yakin.
In 2011/12 season he led FC Luzern to silver of Swiss league which was a great success for the team. After that he was invited to Basel.
Current events
For now FC Basel 1893 is on the second place in the Swiss Super League. Still the team scores more than opponents and concedes the least quantity of goals.
The leaders of current squad are left winger Valentin Stocker and 31-year old striker Marco Streller.
