Liusin’s goal helps Ukraine U18/U19 thrash Estonia in Euro 2027 (U19) qualifiers

On Tuesday, March 31, Ukraine U19 national football team played their final match of the first qualifying round for the UEFA European Under-19 Championship 2027. Their opponents were Estonia U19 national football team.

Since both teams had lost their opening matches this game was decisive in determining the bottom team of the group which would be relegated to League B. A draw would have been enough for Ukraine but the team coached by Oleksandr Sytnyk started aggressively.

Ukraine took the lead in the 19th minute when Pavlo Liusin, a midfielder from Dynamo Kyiv, finished off an attack down the left flank with a shot from the edge of the penalty area.

The advantage was doubled in the 28th minute thanks to a strike from Matvii Bodnar of Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih. Just before halftime Vitalii Hliut, representing Chicago Fire from USA, made it 3:0.

After the break Ukraine added another goal in the 79th minute when Oleksandr Balakai of Shakhtar Donetsk capitalized on a loose ball in the box and finished confidently to seal a 4:0 victory.

Two Dynamo Kyiv players were in the starting lineup: defender Danylo Ohorodnyk and midfielder Pavlo Liusin, who scored the opening goal. Both were substituted after halftime. Meanwhile, forward Ivan Andreiko remained on the bench.

With this result Ukraine finished third in the group and will continue their journey toward Euro 2027 (U19) in the second qualifying round this autumn.
