Ihor Kostiuk: «There is no need to find extra motivation for a final»

Dynamo head coach Ihor Kostiuk answered questions from media representatives ahead of the Ukrainian Cup final against Chernihiv.

- Dynamo go into tomorrow’s final as 13-time winners of the Ukrainian Cup. Do you feel any extra pressure as the favorites in this matchup?

- We have talked a lot within the team about this. It’s the final and both teams will step onto the pitch determined to win. Obviously teams do not reach a final by chance. We know very well what our opponent is capable of so we are preparing with maximum focus.

- Dynamo have played in many Ukrainian Cup finals throughout their history. Will that experience have an impact?

- As I said, it’s a final. Chernihiv are an organized team that deserve respect. Despite that I believe experience of our players will play a key role in this match.

- How difficult is it to prepare for an opponent that somewhat unexpectedly reached the final and has great motivation?

- There is no need to find extra motivation for a final so there are no difficulties in that regard. Everyone understands the importance of this match.

- There are regular discussions about Andriy Yarmolenko possibly ending his career. At the same time there are examples like Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski who continue to play at a high level in attacking positions despite their age. Have you considered using Andriy Yarmolenko in such a role?

- Andriy with us and at the moment there is no talk of ending his career because he is helping the team both on the pitch and in the dressing room. We will use him where he can bring the most benefit. I believe he is very useful in his current position.
