Dynamo head coach Ihor Kostiuk commented for UPL TV on the victory over Nyva Vinnytsia (1:0) in the Round of 32 of the Ukrainian Cup.
- This is a great holiday for Vinnytsia, but you saw the quality of the pitch. It was difficult for the team to get used to such a pitch, while the opponents had a better understanding of how the ball could bounce. While we were adapting, Nyva managed to make several attacks. Later, we took control of the ball, created chances, but not everything worked out in the final phase. Also, at the end of the first half, the head referee did not award a clear penalty. I do not understand why a penalty kick was not awarded.
In the end, we applied pressure and scored a goal, could have increased the lead, but still achieved a deserved victory.
- To sum up, are you satisfied with the team’s performance but dissatisfied with the finishing?
- The quality of the pitch did not allow us to play the way we wanted. In the final phase, where quality is needed, there was no opportunity to do that.
- Three players played for Dynamo for the first time today: Liusin and Dykyi started, while Bah came on in the second half. Can you assess their debuts under these circumstances?
- Pavlo and Denys are more adapted to such conditions. We expected them to look more harmonious, but because of adapting to the structure and their teammates, there were problems. As for Bah, he came on as a substitute and made the game more dangerous. These are his first steps in the team.
I believe the guys played well. Dykyi has been training with the first team since the summer training camp. Lyusin is a player who shows promise. We are counting on him and will use him going forward.
- Can we expect Vladyslav Supriaha to be included in the squad for Ukrainian Premier League matches?
- It will all depend on the circumstances.
- Is the Ukrainian Cup special for Dynamo given the need to defend the title, or is every match equally important regardless of the tournament?
- Cup ties consist of one match, and all teams prepare for them to the maximum. In the final of the previous edition, we played Chernihiv, who caused a sensation. Cup matches give fans incredible emotions because there are no clear favorites.
