FC Dynamo Kyiv president Ihor Surkis has commented upon the return of one of the best players in Ukrainian league history Andriy Yarmolenko to our club.
“First of all we considered sports aspects of this transfer. Last season the team lacked quality and experience while Andriy is definitely very experienced player.
Yarmolenko totally knows how things work in our club, so he won’t need time for adaptation. We hope Andriy’s experience will help Dynamo make a step forward and do much better than last season.
Dynamo head coach Mircea Lucescu was one of the people who initiated Andriy’s return home. Actually he wanted to conduct this transfer last winter. For certain reasons we had to wait till summer, but I’m sure wo would have achieved more if Yarmolenko was with us in the second part of the season.
Now our coaches have got one of the best Ukrainian players, who can take the team to the new level.
Dynamo have a lot of youngsters, who’ll be making headway faster working alongside such maestro.
Personally I would like to thank Andriy for returning to the native country despite such circumstances. It’s a strong decision of a strong player in a rough time.
We’re thankful to Ukrainian Armed Forces for the chance to play the UPL, we’re thankful to everyone supporting our country throughout this horrific war. I’m sure Ukraine will be victorious in the battlefield and we’ll witness the progress of our football”.
