- First of all I’d like to clarify the situation for our fans. I talked to Serhiy Rebrov on Monday. I didn’t announce he would leave as I hoped he would find strength to stay. He’s been under serious pressure. He was doing his job honestly and won five trophies. At first it was the Ukrainian Cup, then the UPL and the cup, UPL again, Ukrainian Super Cup… It took him only three years! As it often happens in football, the last season was a failure. Anyway I understand the coach and I offered him to prolong the contract.
I wish there were a lot of such decent coaches as Serhiy Rebrov in football. Usually people just want to preserve their job no matter what results they demonstrate. Rebrov loves Dynamo so much that he’s decided to take a break. As far as I understand, he wants to have rest and spend some time with family. Frankly speaking, I hoped he would keep building the team to the last. Serhiy Rebrov has achieved a lot. I’ve already named trophies, but he’s also formed a system in our club letting us say that we have future. All our teams from U-14 to U-17 are leaders in their leagues. Dynamo U-19 and U-21 also win titles. We are optimistic about our future.
Now I must bear responsibility for not ruining everything that Serhiy Rebrov and his assistant coaches Vicente Gomez, Serhiy Fedorov and Mykhailo Mykhailov have built. I’d like to thank Raul Riancho, who had been working with Dynamo for two seasons. Serhiy Rebrov warned me that this season would be difficult as we couldn’t enforce the team for certain reasons. I’m very thankful to him! Dynamo doors are always open for him.
- Who’s going to take charge of Dynamo?
- In a couple of days I’ll announce the name of new coach. Of course his tasks will be to win the UPL, qualify for the Champions League and demonstrate steady progress. I think Serhiy Rebrov has left us a good team. Maybe we just need some enforcement. In away some “experts”, who achieved nothing after the end of their football careers, made him take a break. Anyway I’m sure his career has just begun. Serhiy Rebrov will prove he can be a great coach.
