The scorer of Dynamo’s only goal in the return match against Scottish side Hibernian in the 3rd round of the UEFA Youth League Champions Path Kyrylo Osypenko shared his impressions of the game.
– A tough opponent, a tough match. How do you feel about the game?
- It was a difficult opponent and a tough game. We prepared well for this match and did what we needed to do – we’re going home with a victory. Everything is fine but there’s still a lot of work ahead. This is only the beginning.
– How much did Hibernian’s goal right after the break motivate you for your run and goal?
- Of course it’s unpleasant to concede right after halftime. I believe the game was mostly under our control. We could have scored in the first half but that’s how it went. Thank God we also scored. I thank guys, they didn’t lose their focus and we went to fight back because we only needed the win.
– This was the last match of the calendar year. Can you summarize the year or the first half of the season?
- We could have finished the first half of the National League U19 better but in the UEFA Youth League we achieved our goal. We’ll go to training camp and prepare directly for the Сhampionship and play-off in Youth League.
– The opponent showed character and was tactically prepared. They wrote on their media that winning was very important for them. How did Dynamo prevent them from achieving that?
- We also want to win. They prepare in their own way, we in ours. Our coaching staff picked a tactic for the game that suited us and suited the result. I believe we have a better selection of players, a better team and we proved it on the field.
– What are your plans for the winter break?
- As usual – I plan to rest a few days first, then return to training. We are all professionals and we need to remain professionals even during the break, keeping ourselves in shape. That’s our life so we’ll do it this way.
