Left defender Kostyantyn Vivcharenko shared his impressions after Dynamo’s 2:0 home victory over Inhulets in the Ukrainian Cup quarterfinal which secured the team’s place in the semifinals.
– Dynamo played their third consecutive home match. What emotions are you feeling?
– Impressions are great. The main thing is that today we won and kept a clean sheet.
– Cup matches are often more difficult. You didn’t score in the first half – did you expect Inhulets to defend so well?
– Yes, of course. Cup matches are played with special emotions. It’s difficult to face any opponent – from the First League, Second League or the Premier League. Every team fights hard against us and usually tries to play defensively. As you saw today Cup ties consist of just one match – there are only two options: either you’re eliminated or you move on.
– Did you want to avoid a penalty shootout?
– Honestly we didn’t even think about that. We wanted to decide everything in regular time and we managed to do so.
– How does it feel to be the first semifinalist and is there any opponent you would prefer at this stage?
– I don’t have any particular preference. There will be a draw and we’ll see who we get.
– Your next match is away against one of the league leaders – Polissya. In the previous round the Zhytomyr side defeated another leader – LNZ. What do you expect from that game?
– It’s a very good, strong and well-organized team. We’re expecting a tough but interesting match.
