This was their third duel in the competition.
Four days before that the White-Blues faced Oleksandria in in the UPL match and won 3:1.
Four years ago Oleksandria outplayed Kyivans in the national cup at this stage, but this time that didn’t happen. Still the game was really tough for Dynamo. They managed to grab the winner in extra time playing outnumbered.
Both sides weren’t really active early in the game and exchanged only potential opportunities. Still gradually Dynamo took the situation under control and started approaching visitors’ penalty area.
Kyivans started the second half more aggressively. Shabanov missed with a header and then Rusyn hit the post! But in a minute Kadiri committed a foul, got the second booking and was sent off.
Despite that Olexiy Mykhailychenko’s men managed to hit the target. Rusyn sent the ball into the net after pass from Sydorchuk, but after watching VAR the goal was cancelled and the teams had to play extra time.
Eventually, 106 minutes into the match, Dynamo scored correctly. Kedziora found Tsyhankov in the penalty area and Viktor hit the target.
So, it’s 1:0 and Dynamo go through to the Ukrainian Cup semifinal.
