Oranje created a lot of scoring chances, but didn’t manage to use at least one as Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas played very confidently.
As it came to penalties Dutch keeper Tim Krul made a substitute appearance.
He saved two shots while his teammates didn’t miss at all.
FC Dynamo Kyiv performer Jeremain Lens took the field 76 minuets into the match.
He didn’t take part in the penalty shootout.
The Netherlands will face Argentina in the semifinal in São Paulo on July 9 at 23.00 (Kyiv time).
