On Wednesday, August 3, FC Dynamo Kyiv will play the 2022/2023 Champions League 3rd qualifying round 1st leg. The White-Blues will face the Austrian side SK Sturm Graz at the Stadion Miejski im. Wladyslawa Krola in Lodz, Poland.
- The Ukrainian Premier League season was ceased because of war. Dynamo finished second, two points behind FC Shakhtar Donetsk (W-14, D-3, L-1, goal difference – 47:9).
In the Ukrainian Cup round of 16 Dynamo defeated FC Mariupol and were supposed to face FC Oleksandria in the quarterfinal, but the national Cup wasn’t finished either.
- Sturm became the domestic league runners-up with Salzburg 15 points ahead (W-16, D-8, L-8, goal difference – 62:46). The leading striker of the team was Jakob Jantscher with 14 goals and 15 assists to his name.
As for the national Cup, Sturm tumbled out in the round of 16 by losing against SV Ried (1:2), who reached the final later.

2022/2023 SEASON START
Before the start of the Champions League qualifiers, Dynamo hadn’t played official matches since December 12 2021. Since then the White-Blues played 31 games (29 friendlies and two Champions League qualifiers against Fenerbahce). They won 19 of those, lost four and played in a draw eight times (goal difference – 58:31).
Sturm have already played three official matches. They flattened SC Röfix Röthis in the Austrian Cup (6:0, drew against Wolfsberger (1:1) and defeated Salzburg (2:1) in the domestic league.
