On Thursday, November 28, FC Dynamo Kyiv played the Europa League matchday 5 game. The White-Blues faced the Czech side FC Viktoria Plzen.
Kyivans didn’t gain a single point and didn’t score a single goal in previous games while Viktoria didn’t suffer a single defeat.
The game started nervously for Dynamo as Bushchan made a mistake in front of the goal, but Kalvach didn’t manage to punish him – defenders blocked the shot. The White-Blues responded quite sharply. Vivcharenko rushed into the box down the left side, crossed, the ball was intercepted, but Buialskyi obtained it and attempted on target. This strike was blocked as well.
Czech side mostly maintained possession, but didn’t create much danger. Oleksandr Shovkovskyi’s men had a chance to open the score halfway through the first half. Rubchynskyi passed to Shaparenko, Mykola found Buialskyi in the box line, Dynamo skipper attempted one-touch, but goalkeeper parried.
Viktoria responded with their chance. Teammates created the opportunity for Jirka, who rushed into the penalty area down the right side, but Bushchan grabbed the ball after his shot!
The second half started with danger in front of Dynamo goal. Jirka obtained the ball after cross from the left wing and attempted with the second touch, but Bushchan parried.
In the 52nd minute Kyivans netted the ball. Karavayev crossed into the box, the ball touched Shaparenko after which Vivcharenko scored from close range. Unfortunately this goal was disallowed due to offside.
In a few minutes another disappointment happened. Jirka passed to Vydra, who hit the far corner from outside the penalty area – 0:1.
Dynamo got more active and started creating chances. Brazhko crossed into the six-yard box, but no one managed to send the ball into the net. Then Brazhko attempted from distance, but keeper parried while Mykhavko missed with a header after corner.
Dynamo hoped to equalize, but conceded the second one instead. In the 90th minute Kalvach found Sulc, who managed to score although Bilovar and Shaparenko were next to him – 0:2.
Still the White-Blues finally scored. Kabayev crossed into the box in a stoppage time, but the ball went over the keeper – 1:2. That was Dynamo first Europa League goal of the season which is hardly a consolation for the team.
