Kyivans took the ball under control at once while Belgians were very careful. Mircea Lucescu decided to use the same lineup we saw in the game against AZ Alkmaar.
Vladyslav Supriaha did his first attempt 4 minutes into the game from outside the box while his next effort turned into goal. Karavayev rushed through the left side, passed to Buialskyi, who found Supriaha and Vladyslav hit the open goal – 1:0! Having checked VAR referee made sure the goal was okay.
The early opener was the first crushing blow for Gent while the second happened when Roman Yaremchuk was substituted due to injury halfway through the first half. Being in front Dynamo kept attacking pretty actively.
Home side unleashed the first shot on goal in the 36th minute – Bezus attempted from distance, but Bushchan was there.
41 minutes into the game Belgian side managed to equalize. Kleindienst headed the ball in after cross from the corner flag – 1:1.
Dynamo started the second half with possession too while Gent lost another Ukrainian. Bezus got two bookings within four minutes and was sent off.
After that home side focused on defense and hardly attacked at all. Dynamo enforced the attacking line with Tsyhankov and Verbic.
Goalkeeper Davy Roef saved his team a couple of times, but 79 minutes into the game de Pena obtained the ball inside the box after rebound and sent it into the net – 1:2!
Kyivans had chances to increase lead, but didn’t. Let’s hope Dynamo saved these goals for the return match that takes place on September 29 in Kyiv.
