History

The club was founded in 1910 in Funchal, Madeira. Colors of the club are red and green.

This team has many famous trainees, such as Pepe, Danni and others. Still it has won only one significant trophy so far – the national cup in 1926.

In 2012/2013 season Maritimo reached the Europa League group stage and finished third in their group.

Current state of affairs

Last season Maritimo finished sixth in domestic league table with 13 wins, 11 draws and 10 defeats (goal difference – 34:32, 50 points). They lacked 32 points behind champions – SL Benfica.

Best striker – 27-year-old Brazilian Raul – 7 goals in Primeira Liga. He’s already joined SC Braga.

The team started new season with the UEFA Europa League 3rd qualifying round and defeated PFC Botev Plovdiv (0:0 away, 2:0 at home). In domestic league Maritimo defeated FC Pacos de Fereira – 1:0 – and lost against CF Os Belenenses – 1:0.

Head coach

CS Maritimo gaffer is 46-year-old Daniel Ramos.

As a player, he featured only for Portuguese teams from 1991 till 1997. The most well-known are Rio Ave FC (1991-1993) and SC Beira-Mar (1995-1996).

In 2001 he started coaching. Till 2016 he worked with teams from Portuguese lower leagues (12 teams). On September 22 2016 he took charge of CS Maritimo.
