Maciej Kędziorek: «I really like the way Yarmolenko reacts to the game»

Dynamo Kyiv acting head coach Maciej Kędziorek commented on the team’s 3:1 home victory over Kudrivka in Matchday 10 of the Ukrainian Premier League in an interview with Football Hub.

– Today, you played with two defensive midfielders, Volodymyr Brazhko and Mykola Mykhailenko. Was that your tactical decision?

– Yes, you correctly noticed that we played with two “sixes” today, but for me, Mykhailenko is a versatile player who can also play as an “eight” or a “ten”. Today, he played in several positions, both deeper and further forward. You could even see in the build-up to his goal that he was positioned higher up the pitch. Looking ahead, I can tell you that you will see some players in slightly different positions, performing somewhat different roles than they did before.

– Mykhavko was booked today for his emotional reaction…

– He is a rather emotional player who sometimes gets carried away, but he fights for every ball. Sometimes, those emotions can be excessive. My assistant Grzegorz was a good defender in the past, and he knows how to channel Taras’s emotions in the right direction. He wanted to give Mykhavko some advice on how to react in similar situations. Overall, fans love football for its emotions, and this is one such situation. Perhaps we will talk about it later, but this is football, and emotions have to be part of it.

– Yarmolenko did not score today but provided an assist. He seemed unhappy as he left the pitch…

– Of course, everyone in Ukraine knows who Andriy Yarmolenko is, what he has achieved and the level he has reached. And I can assure you that he is a player who wants to win every single match, every situation and every individual duel. I really like that about him. He is someone who gives everything for the team, and that is why he is highly valued within the squad. If you went into the dressing room now, you would see a completely different person. We appreciate and respect him for everything he brings to the team.
