FC Dynamo Kyiv head coach Mircea Lucescu answered journalists’ questions after the win against FC Mariupol in the Ukrainian Cup round of 16 game (2:1).
- We started well, had a lot of combinations, maintained possession and scored twice. After the first half I made substitutions and I didn’t like the way we played after the break. I’m not satisfied with our guys’ attitude. Anyway, it was important to qualify for the next stage. Now I think of the Saturday UPL game.
- In the first half, players, who don’t have a lot of game practice, took the field. Did they use their chance?
- Yes, it was their chance to demonstrate what they’re capable of. I can’t say the first half was bad, but after the break all players did worse than they can. It was about the score, besides, maybe they got tired as they didn’t play a lot recently. If you don’t play regularly, you can have certain fitness issues.
- Now you are to have a long trip to Kyiv, then another away match against Mariupol, Champions League game against Barcelona. Will this tight schedule impact your training process?
- Yes, the schedule is really tight. On Friday we’ll return to Mariupol. I’ll try to give players equal exercise load.
