Match For Peace. Everton – Dynamo – 3:0. Report

On Friday, July 29, FC Dynamo Kyiv played another “Match For Peace! Stop The War!” charity game. Mircea Lucescu’s men faced the English Premier League side Everton FC.

Only two ways before that, the White-Blues grabbed a very important win against Fenerbahce in the Champions League 2nd qualifying round second leg. Thus no wonder that at the Goodison Park the starting lineup mostly included those who didn’t play in Istanbul or made substitute appearances. As for the Toffees, Frank Lampard used mixed squad while Dynamo trainee Vitaliy Mykolenko got captain’s armband.

The game started with a trouble for Dynamo. In the fourth minute, after long ball by Tarkowski, Calvert-Lewin headed the ball in despite standing with his back to the goal.

Still that didn’t really upset visitors. Syrota had a decent chance after corner, but his header was inaccurate. Everton keeper coped with pretty good strike by Vanat.

There was danger in Dynamo penalty area too from time to time. After cross from the corner flag, Calvert-Lewin had another great opportunity, put Neshcheret parried his shot. Later Gray missed the upper V from inside the box.

Vanat, who played in his usual position of forward, was quite active. In one of the episodes he attempted with a header after cross by Andriyevskyi, but missed. Then he eluded two defenders, but the third one blocked his shot.

Andriyevskyi had the best chance to equalize. Harmash won a free kick for Dynamo, Olexandr unleashed powerful strike, but Pickford saved spectacularly.

Early in the second half Boiko had to demonstrate his skills. Denys coped with the shot by Gray. Dynamo tried to respond from distance, but Shaparenko and Harmash missed. Boiko saved our team again in the 66th minute as Gordon eluded Tymchyk and attempted from the left side of the box.

Anyway, 73 minutes into the match home side increased the lead. McNeil approached the penalty area and hit the corner. Six minutes later, after cross from the left wing, Dynamo defenders left McNeil inside the six-yard-box and he made it 3:0.

The score didn’t change any more, but after the final whistle Everton made a substitute appearance – the Toffees’ fan Paul Stratton took the field and referee awarded penalty for him. Denys Boiko let him score although this goal wasn’t added to match protocol.

So, Dynamo lose against Everton and keep getting ready for the Champions League third qualifying round against SK Sturm Graz.
