Dynamo forward Matviy Ponomarenko answered questions from media representatives ahead of the second leg of the 3rd qualifying round of the Conference League against Qarabağ.
– What are your expectations for tomorrow’s match? Do you feel any pressure that could make you play less confidently in Baku?
– Thank you for the question. I think it will be a difficult game, as I read that around 30,000 fans are expected at the stadium, who will push their team forward. But we are ready for everything. Having a one-goal advantage, we have come here to win and advance further.
– Perhaps you have heard about Qarabağ and their successes in recent years. For you, as a young 20-year-old player, is this match an additional motivation?
– Of course. Any game in European competitions is prestigious. Therefore, we prepare very responsibly for every match. I followed Qarabağ last year. I saw their performances in the Champions League – they played quite well. They are a good, ambitious team that imposes tactical and physical competition on their opponents. So we will prepare thoroughly.
– It so happened that you scored in the last two matches, and the team won. What are your thoughts about tomorrow’s match?
– We need to go out and win. There are no other thoughts. We are preparing for the game. Today we will have a training session, feel the pitch – and continue preparing.
