Matviy Ponomarenko named Best Young Player of the UPL 2025/2026 season

The Ukrainian Premier League traditionally conducted a survey among clubs to determine the best coach, best referee, best player, best goalkeeper, and best young player of the championship in the 2025/2026 season.

According to the results of the voting by all 16 clubs, Dynamo Kyiv forward Matviy Ponomarenko was recognized as the Best Young Player of the UPL 2025/2026 season.

In the season that has just concluded, Matviy made the entire football community of Ukraine talk about him thanks to his scoring ability. In 15 matches, the 20-year-old striker scored 13 goals, earning the title of the league’s top scorer. In addition, his scoring streak in the championship reached 7 consecutive matches.

Matviy’s goals impressed with their spectacular nature. It is worth recalling his precise strikes in the match against Polissia, where he skillfully outplayed opponents, as well as his stunning shot from the center circle in the game against Shakhtar.

Matviy Ponomarenko’s achievements did not go unnoticed — in the spring, he received his first call-up to the Ukraine national team.

It should be noted that Dynamo defender Taras Mykhavko, who won the title of Best Young Player of the UPL last season, was also among the top three this year.
