Dynamo forward Matvii Ponomarenko has been included in the list of the 100 best young footballers in the world competing for the prestigious Golden Boy award.
In previous years the winner was chosen by voting but this year the Italian publication Tuttosport compiled the top 100 players under the age of 21 in collaboration with the well-known transfer portal Transfermarkt. A points-based ranking system was created, which determined the current order of the contenders for the award.
At the moment, the 20-year-old Dynamo player occupies 86th place in the list. An updated ranking will be released every month, and in October it will be reduced to 20 footballers, from whom the Golden Boy 2026 winner will be selected.
It should be noted that the award can be won by talents born in 2006 or later who play in the top divisions of the 25 strongest European championships.
