Metalurh D – Dynamo – 0:0. Match report

Dynamo Kyiv registered their second draw, this time goalless, in this season’s Ukrainian Premier League after failing to break through the Metalurh Donetsk guards on Matchday 4 on Saturday.

After their disappointing loss at the hands of Russian side FC Rubin Kazan in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round four days ago, the White-Blues travelled to Donetsk knowing this would be another tough game.

There were no major surprises in Yuriy Semin’s line-up this evening. Andriy Shevchenko came in for suspended Roman Eremenko while Goran Popov replaced Badr El Kaddouri on the left flank.

The hosts started the better. Obviously, Dynamo keeper Oleksandr Shovkovskyy was busier during an opening half-hour of a tough encounter, saving well from Bulgarian Velizar Dimitrov and Brazilian Zé Soares. The Kyivers improved in the second half and started pushing Metalurh back into their own half with Andriy Yarmolenko and Oleksandr Aliyev having best opportunities to find a breakthrough. But even intense pressure in the final quarter of the match couldn't help our team to hit the target.
