Portugal national team qualified for the contest due to dramatic win against Sweden in playoffs.
- Unfortunately we came second in our group and had to struggle for the right to perform at World Cup in playoffs. Anyway we demonstrated outstanding unity. Now we are to play worthy against great teams.
Miguel was important player for Selecção, who defeated Sweden in playoffs by the score of 4:2 on aggregate.
This halfback also featured at 2010 World Cup and reached Euro-2012 semifinal.
- This is important experience. I guess we just faced bad luck. Our semifinal match against Spain was great. Eventually they won the contest.
Will Portugal manage to build on the progress considering the fact that they’ll face three-time World Cup winners on the group stage?
- We are to work with great eagerness. National teams like Germany are always among the candidates to win any competition. We also have the United States, where football has been developing. And Ghana, who have already won some competitions in Africa and are quite a competitive team, very strong.
I had the joy and the chance to participate in the World Cup in South Africa, and it's a dream for any player to do it again. Even more so in Brazil, where supporters are true fans of football. It will be a unique and unforgettable event.
By the way, on March 5 Miguel featured for his national team as Portugal played friendly against Cameroon. Selecção won the game by five goals to one.
