Dynamo U19 midfielder Myroslav Romaniuk shared his impressions of the match against Zhytomyr’s Polissia, in which the White-Blues suffered a 0:2 away defeat:
— At halftime, the coach said that we were not fully doing what he was asking us to do. Perhaps that was why we got such a result in the first half.
— Did you expect Polissia to score at the beginning of the match?
— To be honest, I did not expect Polissia to score so quickly at all. But after the goal, we pulled ourselves together, went forward, and tried to equalize. But we were unlucky: there were chances after set pieces, but we were just a little short of luck and, in the end, conceded a second goal ourselves.
— Is it Polissia’s merit that they played in an organized and coordinated manner in defence and launched counterattacks?
— I think so. They were better than us on the pitch in the first half. But we came out for the second half completely different, so I would not say that the opponent could create much at all. We really wanted to change the score, to come back, but, as I said, we were unlucky. Unfortunately, we have this scoreline.
— When you were preparing for the game and analyzing the opponent, what aspects did the coach focus on?
— We analyzed absolutely everything: set pieces and everything else that could be analyzed. Playing out from defence, their attack, their play in midfield – in short, everything you need to know how the team will play against you and understand what they can create against us on the pitch.
— It was probably already more difficult to make a comeback after the second goal conceded?
— Yes, of course. When the score is 0:2, it is much harder to win a match, but we tried until the end. We were missing something in the final phase, in attack. Of course, the mood is not very good, but the coach said that we should not hang our heads, that we need to move forward. The championship is long, and we have to win the next matches.
