National league U19. Dynamo – Kolos – 2:0. Match report

On Tuesday, May 12, Dynamo hosted Kolos in the Matchday 28 fixture of the National league U19. Teams came into the game from different parts of the standings: Dynamo were among leaders while Kolos occupied a mid-table position. After 27 rounds the Kyiv side had collected 67 points and sat second while their opponents were eighth with 41 points.

The first-round meeting between Kolos and Dynamo earlier this season ended in a narrow 1:0 victory for White-Blues.

For about half of the first half neither side created particularly dangerous chances near the opponent’s goal. Most of the play took place in midfield while attacking attempts broke down on the approaches to the penalty area. White-Blues delivered several set-piece crosses but visitors from Kovalivka won aerial duels or reached the ball first to neutralize the danger.

Among moments that could have become dangerous were a good long-range strike from Ozymai and Lobko’s attempt following a low cross from the left. At the other end Kolos threatened Surkis with a chipped effort that flew just over the crossbar.

The hosts’ next attack, however, proved successful. Fedorenko intercepted the ball after an inaccurate opposition pass in midfield and, before reaching the penalty area, produced a superb strike into the top corner to make it 1:0.

Shortly before the halftime whistle Dynamo doubled their advantage through Liusin. After receiving a pass from Bekerskyi on the left he fired a precise low shot from the edge of the box into the very corner to make it 2:0.

At the beginning of the second half Liusin nearly scored again from a free kick but goalkeeper managed to parry the ball away in a diving save. Overall the game was not particularly spectacular. The calm was interrupted by Zhdanov who threatened Korobchenko’s goal twice within a minute: first his shot from the right was blocked by a defender and then the winger narrowly missed the target.

Visitors responded with several dangerous attacks but Surkis and defenders managed to clear the danger. Meanwhile a free kick from Merva from around 22 meters went well over the bar.

In the second half of the period the Kyiv side handed the initiative to visitors who enjoyed more space but failed to make use of it. During set pieces and crosses into the penalty area Dynamo defended reliably. Only once did Chernenko produce a dangerous header after a cross from the left but the ball went wide.

In stoppage time Pashko almost caught the goalkeeper off guard with a shot from near the edge of the penalty area but Korobchenko pushed the ball out for a corner.

In the end it finished 2:0 - a confident victory for White-Blues that allows Dynamo U19 to continue their fight for the championship.

Dynamo’s next National league U19 match will take place later this week. In the Matchday 29 fixture the team will play away against SC Poltava U19 on Saturday, May 16.
