National U19 League. Dynamo – Kudrivka – 7:2. Match report

On Friday, May 22, in the framework of the final, 30th, round of the National league U19 Dynamo hosted Kudrivka at home. To win U19 tournament Kyiv side needed to secure a victory and hope for league leaders Shakhtar to lose their match against Kolos.

Dynamo’s youth squad was reinforced by Vyacheslav Surkis, Pavlo Liusin and Vitalii Lobko who had been included in Dynamo’s first-team squad in recent matches in the UPL and the Ukrainian Cup. However it was impossible to call Dynamo’s lineup optimal as Denys Dykyi, Danylo Ohorodnik, Nazar Ivaskiv, Danylo Ishchenko, Ousmane Savane, Dmytro Panimash and Kyrylo Osypenko were absent for various reasons (injuries and suspensions).

Dynamo started the match very aggressively. Already in the 3rd minute Kyiv attack led to the opening goal – Zhdanov sprinted down the left flank and crossed into the center of the penalty area, where Lobko controlled the ball and shot past both the defender and the goalkeeper. The quick goal set the attacking tempo of the match, but the visitors did not sit back in defense and quickly equalized.

In the 8th minute Dynamo made a positional mistake in their own penalty area, Kolomiets received the ball 12 meters from goal and had no problem finishing with an accurate strike.

Hosts could have restored their lead just a minute later but Fedorenko shot over the bar from a promising position. This effort became a signal for even more active attacking play from the Kyiv side. White-Blues controlled possession and used flanks for quick attacks. In the 12th minute Pavlo Cherednichenko’s side took the lead again – Liusin passed to Zhdanov on the left edge of the penalty area, Denys lifted his head, assessed the situation perfectly and fired into the far top corner of the opponent’s goal.

In the 19th minute Dynamo quickly played a free kick, Rybak crossed from the right flank and Lobko, in his usual style, finished the move with a goal.

Hosts’ advantage was undeniable. The Kyiv side completely controlled the events of the match, attacked frequently, and managed to score twice more before the break. In the 32nd minute, an interesting combination involving Ozymai – Fedorenko – Liusin ended with Pavlo going one-on-one with the goalkeeper and calmly finishing past the opposing shot-stopper – 4:1.

In the 45th minute Liusin produced a brilliant through pass to set up Fedorenko in a shooting position inside the opponent’s penalty area – Arsenii made no mistake and scored Dynamo’s fifth goal. With this scoreline teams went into the break.

After halftime the scenario of the game did not change. The Kyiv side controlled proceedings, attacked often, and quickly scored their sixth goal. After a multi-pass combination, Liusin once again joined the attack in the center-forward position, went one-on-one with the goalkeeper, and completed his brace.

The visitors responded with aggressive pressing, forcing Dynamo under pressure to pass back to Surkis in their own penalty area several times, and in one such episode Hrabilin dispossessed the goalkeeper and scored into an empty net.

However, this goal from the visitors had no impact on the course of the game. Dynamo continued to dominate, with great chances to score for Bekerskyi and Andreiko, but Bykhovchenko made several saves. However, the goalkeeper could do nothing about Hubenko’s technical strike into the top corner in the 77th minute.

In the remaining time, the teams exchanged attacks. Our boys lacked the final shot, while all crosses and attempts from the visitors were neutralized by Surkis and Dynamo’s pair of central defenders, Solomchenko and Dekhtiar.

In the end, Dynamo comfortably crushed their opponents 7:2 but once again failed to win the U19 championship. Our team finished second, though the main achievement can be considered the large number of Dynamo U19 players who showed progress and, during the course of the season, moved up to the first team, where they became both rotation players and key performers.
