On Wednesday, September 9, Dynamo’s youth team played another match in the U19 National League. In the framework of the 6th round, Vadym Milko and Andrii Fartushniak’s side faced Polissia Zhytomyr. This was an away match for our team and took place in Zhytomyr at Spartak-Arena stadium.
The match began with a “cold shower” for Dynamo. The hosts finished one of their first attacks with a goal. Following a throw-in, Tserkovnyi broke into the penalty area and sent the ball into the net with a powerful shot – 1:0. Dynamo immediately rushed forward in an effort to come back. They took several shots at the opponent’s goal, although none were particularly dangerous, and had a good chance to equalize following a corner.
The Kyiv side continued to dominate possession and initiative, regularly creating pressure around the opponents’ goal both from open play and after set pieces. In particular, we should mention Dragan’s shot just over the bar, as well as attempts by Bekerskyi and Buravtsov.
However, the Zhytomyr side also found opportunities to launch dangerous counterattacks. After intercepting the ball in midfield, Tserkovnyi finished one of them with a shot on goal, but his effort was slightly off target. Soon afterward, only the crossbar saved Dynamo from conceding a second goal after Semenenko’s shot from the left corner of the six-yard box. Semenenko had another chance, but Volodko came to the rescue by clearing the ball.
Tserkovnyi, however, made full use of his next opportunity: after an attack down the right and a cross into the penalty area by B. Romaniuk, followed by a touch from Dovhalets, Semenenko outsmarted the visiting defenders, allowing the ball to reach Tserkovnyi, who found the net from the six-yard line – 2:0.
At the beginning of the second half, Dynamo had more possession, while the Zhytomyr side mainly played on the counterattack. During one of them, after winning the ball in midfield, Polissia launched a rapid three-on-three attack, but after the final shot the ball rolled just wide of the post. The visitors responded with a good effort from Yermak, which went slightly over the bar.
Midway through the half, M. Romaniuk produced a rather unexpected shot from the left, with the ball missing the far corner by a very small margin. Andreiko also registered a dangerous attempt, aiming for the near corner, but goalkeeper Spoda had the situation under control. After that, both teams began to play more cautiously, without creating genuinely clear-cut scoring chances near each other’s goals. Dynamo tried to attack actively, while the hosts defended in an organized and coordinated manner.
Toward the end of the match, the Zhytomyr side spent more time near Volodko’s goal, but they could not turn their attacks into a goal, while our goalkeeper also acted reliably. Shortly before the final whistle, our team conceded for a third time, but the goal was disallowed for offside. To make matters worse, Dynamo were reduced to ten men in stoppage time following Fedorenko’s dismissal.
Thus, the match ended in a 0:2 away defeat for Dynamo, their first of the current season.
Dynamo’s next match in the U19 National League will be at home: in a week, on September 16, in the framework of the 7th round, our team will host FC Lviv from the city of the same name.
