U19 National League. Shakhtar – Dynamo – 1:2. Match report

On Wednesday, August 26, Dynamo’s youth team played another match in the renewed U19 National League. In the 4th round, Vadym Milko and Andrii Fartushniak’s side faced Shakhtar Donetsk. The match was an away game for our team and was played at the Arsenal-Arena in Shchaslyve.

The opening of the first Classic of the season was not particularly rich in dangerous moments. Safonov added some sharpness with a shot from almost the edge of the penalty area, but it went wide. In response, Dynamo earned a promising free kick on the right side of the opponents’ goal. Following a cross into the penalty area, Ivaskiv headed the ball onto the crossbar! After the second phase of the attack, Andreiko sent a cross into the penalty area from the left, and Dekhtiar managed to strike the ball powerfully and accurately past the goalkeeper to give his team the lead – 0:1.

After that, the Kyiv side continued to put pressure on the opponents’ goal, creating a real siege both from open play and from set pieces. In particular, our team took several corners in a row, with Lusin, Andreiko, Savane and Buravtsov finding themselves in shooting positions, but the Miners managed to clear the danger and neutralize the threat each time.

The next goal also came from a set piece: after a corner and a flick-on at the near post, Fedorenko doubled his team’s advantage – 0:2. Savane almost made it 0:3 immediately afterward, but his accuracy let him down slightly. For the opponents, we should mention Bytsyk’s attempt to shoot at Roienko’s goal, but the Shakhtar player rushed his effort and could not make the most of the situation. Voloshko also tried a low shot, which our goalkeeper dealt with. Thus, the spectators saw no more goals before the break.

At the beginning of the second half, the teams exchanged attacks, but neither led to any real danger. Closer to the middle of the half, Shakhtar managed to move the game into Dynamo’s half. Trying to get back into the match or at least reduce the deficit, the hosts took control of the ball and regularly created difficulties for our defense.

Among other things, the Donetsk side had several set pieces – corners and two fairly dangerous free kicks. After the second one, the ball flew just a few centimeters over the crossbar. Crosses from the flanks and deliveries into the visitors’ penalty area were also dangerous, but our team defended in a coordinated and organized manner, not allowing the opponents to benefit from these situations.

Finally, shortly before the final whistle, Shakhtar achieved their goal: after another attack, Koman crossed from the left into the penalty area, Chornienkyi played the ball further to Trokhym, who struck powerfully and gave the goalkeeper no chance, pulling one goal back – 1:2. The final minutes were predictably tense and emotional, with neither team willing to give way, resulting in numerous fouls and stoppages in play.

In stoppage time, the hosts almost equalized. They won a corner, and Chornienkyi’s header hit the crossbar. After Safonov’s follow-up effort, Roienko saved Dynamo, and finally Chornienkyi managed to bundle the ball into the net from close range, but he was offside at that moment, so the goal was disallowed.

Thus, the final score was a 2:1 away victory for Dynamo.

Dynamo’s next U19 National League match will be played at home: in a week, on September 2, our team will face Cherkasy-based LNZ in the 5th round.
