Dynamo midfielder Navin Malysh, who has returned from a loan spell at Zorya Luhansk, shared his expectations for the upcoming training camp in Austria and the new season.
– I’m very happy to have returned to the team. I want to prove myself during the training camp and establish myself in the squad. Dynamo is one of the leaders of Ukrainian football, and I’m sure everyone wants to play here. I’ll repeat myself: I would like to become a regular starter for this team, and for that I need to work very hard.
– You spent last season on loan at Zorya Luhansk. What has changed during that time? Which aspects of your game have you managed to improve?
– First of all, I gained experience. Now I need to demonstrate everything I have worked on over these years.
– You are quite a versatile footballer. You have played as a full-back, a defensive midfielder, and a central midfielder. In which position do you feel most comfortable?
– Probably on the right side of the defense. But a lot depends on where and how often you play. There was a period at Vorskla when I played exclusively as a central midfielder, and I felt comfortable there as well. So for me it is not that important which position I play in—the main thing is to be on the pitch.
– Where and how did you spend your vacation?
– In Kyiv. The vacation lasted a little more than two weeks, so you could say I did not have enough time to lose my fitness.
– This is your first time undergoing a medical examination at Oxford Medical. What are your impressions?
– It is a very good clinic, everything is modern, and the doctors are friendly. I like everything here, but I cannot single anyone out in particular. All the procedures are familiar. We undergo this type of examination every six months, so we have long been used to it.
– At the beginning of July Dynamo will begin its Europa League qualification campaign. Is that an unusually early start to the season?
– First of all, we really want to qualify for the main stage of European competition. Dynamo should be playing there every season. We have a very good team, and we are capable of achieving that.
– During the offseason, the lineup of teams in the Ukrainian championship changed somewhat: Livyi Bereh and Chornomorets returned, while Bukovyna will make its debut. What is your opinion of the newcomers?
– All of the teams are very competitive. I think it will not be easy to play against any of them. But Dynamo must always fight for the championship title, and that is our main objective.
– Will you be following the World Cup matches? Who will you be supporting?
– Yes, I will definitely follow them. I’ll be supporting France. Since the matches will be played at an unusually late time for us, I will most likely watch the highlights. At night, you need to sleep and recover.
