The first Joint tournament game was a success for Kyivans. Oleh Blokhin’s men defeated FC Spartak Moscow away.
The main task Dynamo head coach is trying to fulfill with a help of this competition is to prepare his team for the next season. Thus he let as many players take the field against Moscow side as possible.
As for FC Zenit St. Petersburg – their summer vacation lasted till June 21. Later they had a training camp at their training complex.
Though the new season starts on July 13 for Zenit, their head coach Luciano Spaletti doesn’t speed up the preparation for it.
During this summer break two ex-Zenit players returned to the team. They are Andrei Arshavin and Anatoliy Tymoshchuk.
Brazilian striker Hulk won’t take the field against Dynamo as he is participating in the FIFA Confederations Cup.
Since records began FC Dynamo Kyiv and FC Zenit St. Petersburg have already faced each other 102 times. Ukrainian side won 42 games, Russian – 24 and 36 matches ended in a draw. Goal difference is 160:113 for Kyivans.
