Oleh Luzhnyy: Everything is in our hands

Dynamo Kyiv vs. Roma. Pre-match press conference

Dynamo acting coach Oleh Luzhnyy

Double responsibility

The manager is responsible for the outcome. But things also depend on the players themselves, on their mood and spirits. There is no way back, anyway. Things are not looking good for us, but we still have a chance to make it to the UEFA Cup. It does not matter whether we face first team players or reserves. The latter may even be more motivated. The weather conditions are also no valid excuses for a professional footballer.

Injury setbacks

Michael incurred a knee injury in training. He has had some scanning and the doctors are to say whether or not he will need a surgery. Carlos Corrêa [who picked up a slight injury in Saturday’s game vs. Arsenal Kyiv] may appear tomorrow night. Serhiy Rebrov is not yet 100 per cent fit.

Foreign issue
If the club signs a foreigner, he ought to outdo our own players in a lot of ways. Similarly, if an overseas player can boast no better skills than Dynamo products, I do not see any sense in such acquisitions. It is better to spend a year or two training our youngsters and turn them into no worse performers.
